Monday, 1st

Waiting for the new motor drivers, the group will be focusing on finishing the other aspects of the mechanical and software sections that work with manual control, beginning with making sure the pillow blocks or functioning properly.

The pillow blocks need to be adjusted so that they do not tilt in the socket, as was noticed when they were first mounted. The height of them also needs to be fixed so that the motors are higher off the ground than the motors. Also, a plate or brace needs to be between all four motors to help keep them in place and prevent them from sliding on the bottom shelf. New bolts need to be purchased to go all the way through the pillow blocks.

Thursday, 4th

The pillow block mounts have been raised to the proper height, and the bolts to attach them have been purchased. We attempted to weld the bearings in place on the pillow blocks (with the help of a trained welder), but do to the fact that the blocks are made out of cast metal, the weld did not adhere properly. Now, we have moved to plan B where we will simply add a second pillow block on the other side of the pulley so help stabilize the shaft and prevent the ball bearing within the block from tilting.

Extra pillow blocks and mounts have been purchased and will be assembled within the next few days.
