Week 21

  • Met with our advisor one last time to briefly go over our presentation and make any final edits that may be needed before presenting on Friday.

  • For Next Week: Presentations are being held the next 2 days and so our project is complete after this week.

Week 20

  • We met briefly with the advisor to discuss our progress. We discussed how the battery was changed to a lower power battery which weights less and is able to be placed on the cart.

  • For Next Week: We will meet one last time to go over the presentation and make sure that everything is in place. Since presentations are on Friday and Saturday, we scheduled our final meeting for Thursday morning.

Week 19

  • This week we further discussed the battery and the plans moving forward. The advisor expressed concern about the load of the cart as it is unable to handle any additional load. Because next week is a holiday week and the campus is closed, we scheduled our weekly meeting for next Wednesday mid-morning.

  • For Next Week: Continue testing the system and writing/editing the report.

Week 18

  • This week we met with our advisor in person to demonstrate our progress. We turned on the cart and tested it in manual mode. The cart was not able to move so we discussed with the professor about the possibility of running the cart without the weight of the battery since the load seemed to be too much.

  • For Next Week: Research the possibility of getting a smaller battery that weights less or decide on a way to run the cart with the battery on the side or following behind. continue testing and troubleshooting.

Week 17

  • This week we discussed the progress that was made in the previous week. The advisor went over the Report in detail and suggested some edits for clarity and organization. Chapter 4 is complete after a couple of edits.

  • For Next Week:  Install the motor drivers and other various electronics. Test the manual control. Make edits to the report as discussed in the meeting. Look into how to add video links to the PDF document.

Week 16

  • This week we briefly went over the task completed by the team. We also discussed the tasks expected to be done next week.

  • For Next Week:  Complete chapter 2 and continue work on chapter 3 of the paper. Continue working towards having the cart moving and testing the sensors.

Week 15

  • This week we went over the progress logs for the week. We also went through Chapter 2 of the report in detail and talked about the edits that are needed. The main edits needed are due to the fact that most of chapter 2 came directly from the design report, and so the future tense verbs need to be changed to past tense.

  • For Next Week:  Add any relevant data sheets into an appendices. Make the required changes to chapter 2 as discussed. Continue work on the paper. Continue testing the cart.

Week 14

  • This week we went over the tasks accomplished by the team during the last two weeks, since we did not meet last week. We discussed the progress made on the physical building of the cart and our plans for meeting to combine both team members' sections of the project. We went over chapter 1 of our report. The advisor suggested edits to help improve the flow of the chapter. He suggested moving the requirements section ahead of the objectives section and integrating the block diagram into the objectives and features section. Other edits will also be made based on the advisor's suggestions.

  • For Next Week:  Combine the mechanical module with the other modules for testing. Update the timeline and budget on the website. Complete edits on chapter 1 of the report as discussed during the meeting. We will review chapter 2 during next week's meeting for needed edits.

  • There was no meeting held this week.

  • For Next Week:  Continue working on Project as dictated by the proposed timeline.

Week 12

  • The meeting with our advisor this week was a short one. We briefly discussed the work that was accomplished this week and our plans for next week.

  • For Next Week:  Finish the cart assembly, and work on the motor drivers and sensor implementation.

Week 11

  • This week we discussed the progress logs for each group member. The advisor approved our new block diagram. We updated the advisor on where our code was in the writing process, and discussed wheel drift and how it may (or may not) pertain to mecanum wheels. We outlined our plan to test for wheel drift once the mechanical module is up and running.

  • For Next Week:  Continue work on report. Work the sensors and IR transceiver into the code for the primary board. Continue to work on the mechanical module.

Week 10

  • This week we went over the progress logs for each member of the group for this week and the previous week. We discussed the progress for the written report. The possible need for course correction was also brought up in regards to autonomous movement.

  • For Next Week: Research the need for course correction as it involves mecanum wheels. Continue writing the project report with chapter 4. Get the wheels attached to the cart and test the manual control of the motors and wheels. Continue writing codes for all devices and troubleshooting Bluetooth.

Week 8

  • In the meeting with our advisor this week we went over the progress made. We discussed an issue we have been having in regards to the IR line of sight sensors. We briefly went over the website and discussed miner changes that need to be made to the website to ensure that it is up to date.

  • For Next Week: Continue working on the IR sensor problem. Reword/clarify requirement #5. Import requirements to the project section of the website. Continue assembling the cart.

Week 7

8/27/21

  • For the first meeting of the semester, we went over the syllabus and discussed the course outcomes, and expectations for the Fall semester. Our advisor explained the way that the course will be graded this semester and how we should organize the timeline and budget (proposed vs. actual). We went over the work that was done during the 6 weeks after the proposal presentation and before this week.

  • For Next Week: Update the website as discussed in the meeting. Jesus will continue to refine the RSSI Bluetooth signal to try and make it more accurate. Victoria will complete an updated 3D rendering of the project and begin assembling the cart as parts become available. The group will meet in person on campus to begin work on the main code for the project.

  • The new semester has not yet started, and while the team continued to meet and work on the project, meetings with the advisor were not held. Regular weekly meetings will begin the week of August 22nd.
